OUR STORY

Bringing Vietnamese warmth to the heart of Edinburgh

Pho & Roll is a family business, led by brothers Bau and Thinh Pham, with Thinh's wife Jenny working alongside them in the kitchen. There are twenty years between the two brothers, two of ten siblings, and being able to build something together now means a great deal to them both. Bau moved to the UK in 2013 with the dream of a restaurant of his own, while Thinh spent several years in hospitality in Berlin, where their cousins had built much-loved Vietnamese restaurants of their own. Hospitality has run through the family for many years. When Bau opened the first Pho & Roll in Stockbridge, Jenny and Thinh moved from Berlin to join him, and all those separate journeys finally came together.

In Vietnamese culture, food is never just something you eat. It's how families gather, how friends connect, and how people show love, respect and hospitality - a bowl of phở, a plate of fresh spring rolls, or a shared meal around the table carries warmth, memory and meaning all at once. That spirit sits at the heart of everything we do.

OUR PROMISE

Food made with heart

As a family-run Vietnamese restaurant in Stockbridge, we're proud to bring the flavours and generosity of Vietnamese food culture to our local community, and to Edinburgh visitors finding us for the first time. Our menu is inspired by the dishes we love ourselves - comforting bowls of phở, vermicelli noodle salads, fragrant rice dishes, vibrant herbs and slow-cooked broths.

Opening in Stockbridge meant a great deal to us, and it taught us something simple: when we focus on good food and looking after people, guests find their way to us. The space is small, though, and we often wish we had room for everyone who asks. So when we took Pho & Roll to Jeffrey Street for a Festival pop-up in the heart of the Old Town, the response took us by surprise, with people coming back, bringing friends and crossing the city to eat with us. What began as something temporary started to feel like the natural next chapter, and Jeffrey Street now gives us room to grow, with reservations, larger groups, a proper bar and more than 120 covers across two floors. Edinburgh gave our family a home, and this is our way of giving something back - honest, comforting Vietnamese food, made with heart, for the city that welcomed us in.
